The Service and Support committee is dedicated to promote member
awareness and to increase participation in all opportunities available.
We had a very busy year in 2007. We started a program
called Hunger 89104. Included in this
program is the school backpack program. Two volunteers go to Fremont
Middle School each Friday to distribute backpacks to the less fortunate children
so they would have nourishment for the weekend. This sort of led into our
summer lunch program in which we worked with the State and fed children lunch
every Tuesday and Thursday.
During the year we also helped with the Health Fair, which was a
big success. We promoted the Heifer Fund to raise money to buy the
necessities to teach underprivileged people to become independent farmers,
ranchers, and etc.
Other Projects in 2007 included:
-
Support of Home Companions with visits, cards and phone calls
-
Crop walk
-
Family promise
-
Theatre Thursday followed by "Healthy Living' Lunch"
Last but not least this committee was responsible for the In
Gathering to encourage our members to give joyfully and generously to their
church.
We want to thank all committee members and others for all
their hard work and dedication.
